Hot Water Beach

There are only ten days left until we leave the Bay of Plenty. That's why Scott decided to take Ilias camping in the Coromandel (Peninsula north of Tauranga) during the long Labour Weekend. I planned to stay at home to catch up with work and look after sick Jacob, but when Scott called me to tell me how incredibly beautiful it was up there, I decided to have a break and drive down there, via very windy roads, to spend one day with them. This beach is famous for its hot water sitting underneath the sand. With a shovel you can dig your own hot pool and soak it in as long as low tide lasts. The kids absolutely loved it and it is definitely one of the best holiday destinations in New Zealand.

This is the part of Hot Water Beach without hot water.

We were quite late and didn't have to dig our own pool anymore: we could just hop in. The kids made a lot of friends and splashed away. What a fantastic place!
